William R. Phipps. Mr. Phipps began the practice of law in 1982 when he graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Upon graduation, he served on active duty as a commissioned officer in the Judge Advocate General Corps of the United States Navy for a period of approximately seven years. He moved to Hilton Head Island in 1989 to accept a position with Bethea, Jordan & Griffin, P.A. In 1995, Mr. Phipps commenced his solo law practice on Hilton Head Island which was dedicated to the practice of family law and matrimonial litigation. Since opening his solo practice, he has served annually on the Family Law Section Counsel for the South Carolina Bar Association and was its Chairman for 1999-2000. Mr. Phipps has additionally spoken annually at various continuing legal education seminars in the area of family law since 1995, and has served on the Board of Editors for Matrimonial Litigation in South Carolina, Second Edition (1997) and Third Edition (2001). Mr. Phipps has also served as President of the Beaufort County Bar Association for 2000-2001.
Mr. Phipps is a certified family court mediator and has also served in the role of guardian ad litem in family court litigation.
